About Theatre Chaplaincy UK
Supporting the wellbeing of theatre professionals across the UK
Who are TCUK?
Theatre Chaplaincy UK is a registered charity supporting the mental health and wellbeing of everyone working in UK theatre. Our chaplains provide free, impartial, confidential, non‑judgemental support to professionals of all faiths and none. We are founded on values of love, equality, inclusivity and generosity of spirit—without a preaching or evangelical agenda. Much like hospital or prison chaplains, our members offer skilled pastoral care to people of any and all backgrounds and beliefs, across theatres and drama schools nationwide, at every stage of your career.
Our Vision
A UK theatre industry where everyone has access to compassionate, confidential support for their mental health and spiritual wellbeing, regardless of background or beliefs.
Our Mission
To provide accessible chaplaincy and pastoral care—free, impartial, non‑judgemental—delivered by trained chaplains to people of all faiths and none, across theatres, drama schools and performing arts settings.
"Theatre is the most amazing industry to work in, bringing great joy to all those who work in it, and all those who visit it. But we also know that the theatre industry brings immense challenges. Insecurity of work, unemployment, poor pay and a very high stress environment to name but a few. For well over a hundred years, there have been Theatre Chaplains to help out. They are not there to convert anyone to anything, but rather to walk alongside people in their professional lives, to provide a listening ear and support for well-being. A chaplain can be a shoulder to cry on, a witness to your successes, a cheerleader giving you a pep talk when you need one... Whether you need to vent, boast, worry, celebrate, we offer a safe space, free of judgement, for you to talk, and be heard."
